Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are actually open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the subsequent criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house by using a combined gross household income that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined family cash flow does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not submit any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the correct Id Doc numbers, names, and surname, as 2025 nsfas application mirrored inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan nsfas 2025 to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
